Oportunity for NB Sculptors

The Schoodic International Sculpture Symposium is currently seeking interested artists from New Brunswick to participate in the 2011 Sculpture Symposium held inside Acadia National Park.  The symposium is a six week artist-in-residency program from late July to early September.  The selected six artists from around the world live and work together.

Each artist sculpts local granite to create a permanent work of public art.  The symposium provides lodging, travel and food stipend, 5000 dollar honorarium, a variety of local hard stone, lifting equipment, installation budget and some tools.  Artists are asked to remain in residence for the symposium and create a finished work in the time provided as well as interact with the public which will visit the open work site during the symposium.

A catalogue and map is produced for each event.  Please view our web site for further details and contact me or the project manager Tilan Langley with any questions.  The call to artists begins in September and we encourage New Brunswick artists to contact us and to apply as soon as possible.
