NBFA invites artists to submit expressions of Interest
May 27, 2010

May 28th, 2010

Fredericton, New Brunswick

In 2009, the City of Fredericton was awarded the “Municipality of the Arts of the Year” prize by the New Brunswick Foundation for the Arts (NBFA). The city of Fredericton has chosen to have a commissioned art work installed in the foyer of its new conference center on Queen Street.

Artist(s)/teams of artists are invited to participate in a call for expressions of interest to provide a site specific work of public art at the City of Fredericton’s new conference center on Queen Street. The artwork will be located in the foyer of the conference center. The NBFA is soliciting responses from professional artists or teams of artists in New Brunswick with a proven track record of working on site specific public art commissions.

Every year, the New Brunswick Foundation for the Arts sends out a call for nominations for its “Municipality of the Arts of the Year” award program. This is a juried prize which recognizes the efforts of a municipality that has made a significant contribution to arts and culture in New Brunswick. The prize consists of either a commissioned work of art from a well-known New Brunswick artist to be displayed in a specific public place or the presentation of an art event chosen by the recipient municipality. The NBFA selects the artist or the art event for the prize after the recipient municipality has decided whether it will be the gift of an art work or the gift of an art event. One prize per year is awarded.

The winner of 2009 “Municipality of the Arts of the Year”, the city of Fredericton, has chosen to have a commissioned work of art for its new conference center. Hence, the New Brunswick Foundation for the Arts is inviting individual artists or teams of artists to submit their expression of interest along with qualifications. Artists must comply with the requirements described in the “Request for Expression of Interest”. The document is available on nbfa-fanb.ca, and at NBFA office. Deadline for expression of interest is July 30 2010.
